It took one guest post to make me realize many things.
Ever since I wrote Why poetry and love? hosted by duo author Wodke Hawkinson, and came to the realization that a poem is a feeling, I was also able to understand why I was holding on so tightly to my poetry collection of A Heartstorm. Because it was still subjective.
Read about it in an interview at The Digital Ink Spot.
Now, I can admit that A heartstorm: A window to the soul in poetic forms to me is an account of the pain of growing and maturing and that I owe it thanks for my own maturity. That being said, I no longer have a problem with how others see it, for it is no longer mine. I only feel gratitude for what I have learned from it. I am also considering re-formatting the e-book and adding images as well. It is a long collection after all.
The Four letters of Love, on the other hand is made to inspire for through the visions and the strength, I drew hope and courage to carry on. Love is not just about the way you feel for a lover, love includes loving one’s self, family, friends, surroundings and yes the creator. I suppose it also could be seen as a poetic attempt to satisfy our desperate need to believe in something called love.
Although a few have known the word love, most of us including myself, have probably never loved for our love was a selfish need, idea, feeling or even desire. I came to understand for instance that I have always loved the feeling rather than the person. But love needs not be about how we feel, for love can also be seen by looking into a stranger’s eyes all the way to their soul. While humans have the capacity to be really evil, we were all born innocent. Love surpasses one person’s needs, for love can lead to acts of great courage when love becomes pure.
Pure does not mean in my world heavenly, but without hidden agendas, without selfish desires, devoid of the constant need for gratification. By pure, I mean looking through to one’s soul and capturing the essence of that soul in all the beauty it possesses.
It may all sound a little crazy or impossible and I believe it is due to the fact that we never want to try, because it also means forgetting about ourselves for a while. And humanity is known to be somewhat selfish. I will leave it at that, and for those who will read either collection, I only hope they will find something to learn from it.
I have learned so much since last September, when I began publishing and now I find it is essential and crucial to get feedback and reviews, even interviews to promote the book before its official release. Little did I know when I first launched The thinking man, paralysis by analysis.
I am no longer sure however, that I would like to write more poetry. Although poetry is needed still in our world, just like a painting, or a song, I have come to find that it is not much sought.
In addition to that, my last account from the past two years involved a lot of reasoning and less poetry. My feelings are no longer so much about a subjective narration but refer to a global generalization. I think of these thoughts as wisdom quotes; perhaps I have finally matured.
I am not sure where the road will take me or how it will affect my writing. For the moment, I leave it at that as well.
Thank you to all those who have been supporting me and the launch of this new book.
So for my upcoming new book on love, “The Four Letters of Love” that is, many have been really kind and helpful in assisting in the tough road of promotion.
As such, I would like to thank author Rich Weatherly for being the first to post a review of The Four Letters of Love on his blog, (you can read it here) and for being the first to own a signed paperback copy of the book. (on its way)
In addition, I would like to thank author Alesha Escobar for being kind to feature my book on her site, at aleshaescobar.com
More reviews to come, and possibly more love 🙂 HA!
See you soon on planet love … if such one does exist, we will find it.
As a pre-release for my upcoming poetry book “The four letters of Love” I am giving away one paperback copy on Goodreads until the 30th, by which time the book will be due to be released on Amazon through createspace. Also read the first review of the book at http://richweatherly.wordpress.com, thank you Rich! And a feature on http://www.aleshaescobar.com/ on January 20th. Thank you Alesha!
As I mentioned before, in my previous post, I am putting together some poems, thoughts/quotes and mini stories for a new upcoming book on Love, which will be released by February, hopefully before Valentine.
I have compiled a video for “The Four Letters of Love” book that I want to share with you today.
Oh, so much to do, so much to write and I am a little scared that I may not be up to it but also very excited somehow. As I turned the page on 2011, so have I also turned the page on many other things and I hope this new beginning bears many changes. So, let us start with something cheerful like love. Music is provided by artist Stefano Mocini on Jamendo. Stay tuned to my interviewsbynadina.wordpress.com page for an interview with Stefano on January 20th, 2012.
So here I am, one day prior to the advent of 2012, trying to schedule this post for 00:00 hours on 1-1-2012.
Will there be a malfunction in the system, I wonder, as was predicted in the year 2000, or will the post go through as intended?
Will the day after the tour of the sun stopped shining bring forth a new sun, or will doom reign on earth? Surely nothing will happen, once again because it is so predictable, and yet no one truly knows.
Will we wake up in thanks to a new day and a new beginning, at least number wise if nothing else, or will we all fade away in a deep and long slumber?
Will 2012 be a wonderful year for us all, and perhaps a change in our thinking and perceptions? Will the world be a better place? From my calculations, again my own perception of things, I find 2012 to be a promise of a wonderful year. I will tell you why.
Let us look at 2011 and add up the numbers. on January 1st the numbers totaled 1+1+2+0+1+1 = 6 which is not a great number given that 666 is known to be the mark of the devil. Haha. Not to mention of course 2011 is such an odd number!
Now take 2012. On January 1st, the numbers will add up to 1+1+2+0+1+2 = 7 which is the number for heaven or earth actually. So 2012, numerologically speaking is an earth year, a promise for earth to bloom, or so I think or perhaps like to think.
That being said, I wish everyone a wonderful New Year 2012, filled with dreams coming into a reality, passion, love, happiness, bountiful endeavors and whatever else one counts as dear or important in life. Above all, I wish for peace; peace between brothers on earth, peace of mind as individuals, peace from all unnecessary greedy wars and corporate slavery.
Like that will change!!! I can only hope, some miraculous blast will hit earth and reform our minds to see things differently as we become more compassionate towards each other and pay less value to monetary wealth in the form of a possession and/or accumulation. No one ever died and took the money and possessions along in the grave!
I am hoping 2012 will usher a new beginning of hope for mankind. Yeah, I may seem pessimistic about it all, it is only because we are almost seeing the end of the rise of our civilization, and like any other before us, we shall fall eventually, for everything that rises must yet fall again. I am only hoping our gradual fall will contain a better hope for a rebound…
I am no psychic, nor am I an astrologer, so suffice to say, I have no predictions for 2012, only hopes and wishes and a prayer here and there!
I have no idea what will I do with this blog either, and so I make no promises to blog or not, but I am currently working on a compilation of poems and little short rhyming stories for a book to come, that is all about love, in the hopes of restoring people’s faith in love. Why love? Oh perhaps because everyone wants it, talks about it, wishes for it to be true, and because in every fantasy there is some sort of romance and love happening which is a sign that human kind needs and desires love. Then of course, there is February’s lovers’ day, which should be an everyday ceremony as opposed to a reminder. Dot dot dot, etc, etc etc, tra la la : – )
I bid 2011 farewell and bury in it any unfinished projects, Oh no hold on, scratch that…. I bury in it any unpleasant memories and choose to move on to a better destination.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012 TO ALL ON THE PLANET AND ABOVE AND BEYOND EARTH’S REALM AND DIMENSION.
