Travel photos

Here are some pictures from my Euro trip last year. If you have not gone to Europe, I definitely recommend you do. Here is an overview of some of the cities I have seen.

Puerto Banus, Spain

Puerto Banus, Spain

This is Puerto banus in the Marbella area, in Spain. I was told it is where the rich and famous gather. This harbor has plenty of high end shops to visit, and very nice restaurants to eat in while watching the view of the sea.

Another area where the rich and famous live, and where George Clooney is said to own a home, is Lake Como, in Italy. A beautiful view I might add, of the lake and the majestic Swiss Alps in the background.

Lake Como, Italy

Lake Como, Italy

In Europe, you will find many plazzas, with walkways made of cobblestones, full of shops and cafes, where locals and tourists gather. It is full of life. This picture is taken in Zurich, Switzerland, at the right time before the crowd.

Old town Zurich, Switzerland

When I was in Europe, I felt the ancient nature of things, from cathedrals to historic monuments. This below is a 17th century church in the town of Parma, North of Italy.

Speaking of churches, here is a picture of the famous Notre Dame de la Garde in the south of France, Marseille.

You can also tell the houses in Europe are much smaller than those in the United States. This is a view of Lyon, France. The old architecture and roof tiles are dominant here.

Maybe I will see you somewhere in Europe!

Mini Euro Tour 2012

Ahhhh! Finally, I took that long awaited vacation; a trip of a lifetime to Europe.

Guten Tag, Bonjour, Buon Giorno :)

My mini Euro tour lasted three months, and was mainly by car across Switzerland, France and Italy, before making a stop in Lebanon and then sadly, flying back home.

As I reminisce and smile, I put together this video to share with you an image or two from every stop. I hope you enjoy watching as well as listening to Maxx’s music, an upbeat song to portray the upbeat mode of these travels.

Cheers!

Quotes

Image: dan / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

“Love reckons hours for months, and days for years; and every little absence is an age.” John Dryden

“As the rose-tree is composed of the sweetest flowers and the sharpest thorns, — as the heavens are sometimes overcast, alternately tempestuous and serene; so is the life of a man intermingled with hopes and fears, with joy and sorrows, with pleasure and with pains.” Robert Burton

“No cord or cable can so forcibly draw, or hold so fast, as love can do with a twined thread.” Robert Burton

“Adieu! Adieu! Thy plaintive anthem fades; past the near meadows, over the still stream, up the hill-side; and now ’tis buried deep; in the nest valley-glades: Was it a vision, or a walking dream? Fled is that music: do I wake or sleep?” John Keats

“Words are but pictures of our thoughts.” John Dryden

“A promise is a cloud; fulfillment is rain.” Arabian Proverb

“Silence is medication for sorrow.” Arab Prover

“Love sees sharply, hatred sees even more sharp, but jealousy sees the sharpest for it is love and hate at the same time.” Arab Proverb

” ‘Tis the most tender part of love, each other to forgive.” John Sheffield

“Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.” Zora Neale Hurston

“Love like a shadow flies when substance loves pursues; pursuing that that flies, and flying what pursues.” William Shakespeare

“Therefore love moderately: long love doth so; too swift arrives as tardy as too slow.” William Shakespeare

And from a new perspective, there is always more quotes and phrases you can pick from The Four Letters of Love.

Silence

I do not want to talk about self-publishing, or writing, or my books; I want to talk a little about silence, in quotes.

“‘Tis the little rift within the lute – That by and by will make the music mute, And, ever widening, slowly silence all.” -Alfred, Lord Tennyson

“A properly kept silence is a beautiful thing; it is nothing less than the father of very wise thoughts.” -Diodicus

“After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.” -Aldous Huxley

“And silence, like a poultice, comes to heal the blows of sound.” -Oliver Wendell Holmes

“Friendship is when silence between two people is comfortable.” -Unknown

“Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.” -Max Ehrman

“He who does not understand your silence will probably not understand your words.” -Elbert Hubbard

“I have learned now that while those who speak about one’s miseries usually hurt, those who keep silence hurt more.” -C. S. Lewis

“I have learned silence from the talkative, tolerance from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet strangely, I am ungrateful to these teachers.” -Kahlil Gibran

“Music is the wine that fills the cup of silence.” -Robert Fripp

“My grief lies all within, And these external manners of lament Are merely shadows to the unseen grief That swells with silence in the tortured soul.” -William Shakespeare

“Silence is a friend who will never betray.” -Confucius

“Silence is sometimes the answer.” -Estonian Proverb

“Silence is the genius of fools and one of the virtues of the wise.” -Bernard De Bonnard

“Silence is the most perfect expression of scorn.” -George Bernard Shaw

“Spiteful words can hurt your feelings but silence breaks your heart.” -Unknown

“The human heart has hidden treasures, In secret kept, in silence sealed; The thoughts, the hopes, the dreams, the pleasures, Whose charms were broken if revealed.” -Charlotte Bronte
